Continuing Education

24 hours per 2-year renewal cycle, including ethics. Non-residents whose home state has equivalent CE and reciprocity with Tennessee are exempt.

Contract Requirements

Written contract required (Tenn. Code § 56-6-914) including the public adjuster's compensation, services to be performed, license number, and signatures of both parties. The adjuster must give the insured a copy of the executed contract and notify the insurer of the representation.

Cancellation period: 3 business days from contract signing. Rescission must be in writing and delivered to the public adjuster's address in the contract. Anything of value given by the insured must be returned within 3 business days of cancellation.

Solicitation Rules

A person may not act as or hold themselves out as a public adjuster in Tennessee without an active license (Tenn. Code § 56-6-903). Public adjusters may not collect a fee, retainer, or deposit before claim settlement.
