No statutory fee cap

Minnesota does not set a statutory percentage cap on public adjuster fees. Compensation must be disclosed in writing in the adjusting contract before services begin. Fee splitting is prohibited except with other licensed public adjusters.

Continuing Education

24 hours per renewal period, including a minimum of 3 hours of ethics.

Contract Requirements

Written contract required with the fee disclosed and a boldface (10-point or larger) cancellation-rights notice. A duplicate, easily detachable "NOTICE OF CANCELLATION" form must be attached. Public adjusters must display their license when soliciting clients.

Cancellation period: 72 hours from contract signature. Cancellation must be in writing to the adjuster's business address.

Solicitation Rules

Public adjusters may not initiate solicitation between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., pay referral fees or other inducements, solicit clients already under contract with another adjuster, or misrepresent facts or law.
